Opticoal

For maximum calorific value of the ground coal:
The OPTICOAL System:

The goal of the OPTICOAL system is to provide a dust removal system that sustainably reduces the dust content in the hot gas used for drying and transporting the ground coal in the coal grinding plant.
The result of this lower dust content is an increase in calorific value. For this reason, the installation of a HURRICLON® in the OPTICOAL system is the most efficient solution currently available on the market.

To prevent variations in gas volume in dust collection cyclones (e.g., due to differences in the moisture content of the raw coal), a portion of the gas stream is recirculated to the HURRICLON® is a key advantage. This ensures a constant gas volume and consistently maintains the designed velocity.

The separation efficiency of cyclones is significantly influenced by the gas velocity. If the gas flow is too slow or the velocity decreases, the separation efficiency also drops significantly. The volume of gas in circulation, in turn, depends on the required gas flow in the coal mill. The speed-controlled fan regulates the amount of gas recirculated. The control parameter for the blower is the pressure drop downstream of the HURRICLON®, which should always remain constant.

The advantage of the OPTICOAL system is an automatically controlled and constantly maintained gas flow through the HURRICLON®. This ensures consistently high separation efficiency.
